Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in Wellington, Manitoba. She grew up there. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath, her character in the romance film Piano. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg was raised in Wellington and made her debut as Flora McGrath when she played her role as Flora in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian born New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won an Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the enthusiastic and lively character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. After an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician who moved into New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. After moving in New Zealand, in the United States, she became a teenager. Paquin had a small part in the film's title role when she was still a kid in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and a lead part in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin was Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding and also played a part in the role of Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
